You are getting sleepy....
As far as the food goes, I'll fuel up all day eating up until about 2 hours before "game time". I eat 5-6 small meals over the course of a day. They are all very lean and have a combo of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. An hour before the WOD I'll do a protein shake called the "Orange Dreamsicle".
1 scoop of vanilla whey or soy protein powder
1 cup of orange juice
1/2 cup low fat vanilla yogurt (optional)
3-4 ice cubes (Blend until smooth)
I love this shake. I know some of you have an aversion to OJ due to the sugar in it but it really works for me. I've been using this shake almost daily since Christmas and haven't gained an ounce. I also feel like it really helps in those long grueling WODs and it tastes great so thats a huge plus.
Finally there is the debate around working out sick. I personally believe that working out with a cold helps you. It naturally opens up your sinuses and gets your blood flowing. Plus it is very easy to let an excuse like a cold keep you from doing healthy activities. If you have a fever then you need sleep, rest, and lots of it. Don't even bother trying. With this cold, I should be ok to go tonight. Besides, snot is probably not going to be the only body fluid on display as we are doing 100 kettle bells for time with double unders during the rest....
