I'm kipping and I know it.....

There are so many things that I find interesting about Crossfit but it is really the sense of family and competition that draw me in. We are constantly competing at something. It can be something simple like who had the best time in the WOD or which class is better, AM or PM. (It's AM by the way)

You also have the internal competition which is basically the need to be better at something because someone else is. As an example, without bragging, I am freaking awesome at kipping pull-ups. It's like watching a work of art. Ok, not so much but I am ok at them. It's probably because all you need to do a good kipping pull-up is strong hands and limber hips. My hips don't get a lot of use and my hands.....well, let's just say kipping pull-ups are tailor made for me. Now if the exercise were say Sumo Deadlifts, the bar might as well be made of Kryptonite. That's what I love. There is always something to learn and someone to learn from. I have a lot to learn overall so there are tons of people I am jealous of and I continually try to get better at certain skills so I can compete with them. That's a big part of what keeps it fresh day after day.

The sense of family comes when we are cheering each other on or simply smack talking before, after, or during a WOD. Occasionally, I have been known to "Tebow"an unfortunate loser or two. We also get stuck with nicknames such as The Glove, The Boot, Ryonće, & BRP (Big Ricky Poo). There are others but you get the idea. In any event, this thing we call Crossfit is pretty cool.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go troll some websites to see if I can get the yellow & black Reebok Nanos before "The Glove" does....
