Let there be rest....

And on the seventh day, the JFWodfather rested and it was good. ~ Book of CrossFit 3:16

There is nothing like starting a blog on a Sunday with a little blasphemy. Like most Crossfitters, I get addicted to the WODs but I have learned thru experience (and pain) that you MUST take rest days. I take a full one every Thursday & Sunday. At my age (Forty..cough, cough..) I need the recovery time. If I don't take the day off then I really pay for it in poor performance and usually pain of some sort. Now just because you are taking a rest day it doesn't mean that you should do nothing. Here are a few things I like to do on rest days.

1. Stretch - Flexibility is vital in staying fit and healthy. Plus if you work at it you may get bendy enough to blow yourself. No such luck yet but practice makes perfect.....
2. Fantasy Football - You would be amazed at the number of calories you burn yelling at players and teams that you don't like very much...
3. Kitchen sprints - During football season I like to do a few quick sprints back and forth to the fridge to grab a beer. If it is light beer the amount of exertion needed to offset the calories is less so keep that in mind...
4. 100 mouse clicks for time - You count every time you click on your box's website and yell "When are they going to update tomorrows WOD?!?"
5. Clean - and by "Clean" I mean sit on the couch and watch football. Technically watching the Browns is similar to cleaning because I end up wiping my eyes for like two hours after watching them *sigh*

Now if you will excuse me, I am off to do nothing.....
